Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität-München

LMU is home to the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy: founded in 2011, the MCMP is already established as the world’s foremost place for the application of mathematical methods in philosophy. Stephan Hartmann and Hannes Leitgeb host two large research groups supported by the Humboldt Foundation, totalling around 40 researchers. Both Hartmann and Leitgeb are among the most renowned formal epistemologists in the world and have published repeatedly in the most prestigious venues in the field. They will contribute expertise in the learning of conditionals, explanatory reasoning, as well as specific phenomena of social epistemology, such as modeling the emergence of consensus and pluralistic ignorance.
